With the 50th anniversary celebrations of the Stonewall Riots underway, it’s tempting to romanticize the watershed moment as a time when folks all over the world suddenly came out of the closet to let their freak flag fly freely.

But folks have been rebels just kicks now, been feeling it since 1969, now, it’s not over now and they feel it still.

Historian Matthew Riemer and Leighton Brown’s new book “We Are Everywhere: Protest, Power, and Pride in the History of Queer Liberation” brings to life the amazing moments in the modern struggle for Equality, from early queer get togethers to the “Faggots are Fantastic” guys, to ACT-Up, Queer Nation and beyond.

Today Matthew Riemer joins us to take a look at a photographic history of queer liberation as seen in his new book “We Are Everywhere” about the enduring struggle for queer rights and the need to come together as a community to celebrate and to fight for our rights.
