San Francisco theater has had a long history of inviting everyone to shine onstage and shake their groove thing. Since the 1960’s, with performance troupes like the Cockettes, fabulous drag acts and male burlesque all incorporate anyone with a dream of being seen.
But when you have a lot of performers with stars in their eyes and two left feet, the show can grind to a halt if the choreography isn’t accessible.
Today San Francisco choreographer to the stars Rory Davis joins us to talk about his work wrangling the top drag queens, movie stars and entertainers into fabulous shows. From his Richard Simmons inspired dance classes, to coordinating some of Peaches Christ’s productions and getting the fellas to bare it all in BALONEY the popular male burlesque revue, Rory delivers the moves that make anyone shine bright like a diamond.
