If you’ve never been to a bodybuilding competition in person, it might seem quite intimidating with all that muscle painted dark and greasy, strutting it on stage.

Today our friend John Paul O’Neil, long time listener, first time caller talks about dazzling the crowds at his first two bodybuilding contests by posing to Madonna’s song Vogue ending with a death drop that shook the judges.

But in reality a lot of these contests have a wide variety of people from different ages, backgrounds and bodies ready to showcase their physiques.

Every night in this country, over an estimated 400,000 LGBT youth between the ages of 13 and 21 spend the night out on the streets. The reality for many of them is that they face violence, isolation, abuse and rape, and often wind up in jail, addicted to drugs or living with HIV.
