Here it is! After months of teasing, Lady Gaga debuted her new single, ‘Born This Way,’ this morning on the radio, and already minutes after it airing the internet is abuzz. What are your thoughts?

  1. I’m already ready for the Jason Nevins remix. This is hot.

  2. Does it sound like she wrote it in 10 minutes?

  3. Andreas says:

The interpertation u guys did the other day was not that far away 😉

    • DanC says:

Don’t be a drag, be a queen. Express yourself! It works either way.

Don’t go for second best baby
Put your love to the test
You know, you know, you’ve got to
Make him express how he feels
And maybe then you’ll know your love is real

      Express Yourself.

  4. SarahH says:

I love it! It does sound like Madonna, but then again, wasn’t Express Yourself also a cover from an R&B song?

As Cher would say- “and the beat goes on.”

  5. Cole says:

At first listen I thought that it reminded me of the theme song from “Queer Eye for the Straight Guy”. “Things Keep Getting Better”, or something like that…
Anywho, it sounds totally gay. So Gaga, if that’s what you were aiming for, mission accomplished!

  6. beatrix says:

I thought this song would blow me away, but I am terribly underwhelmed. All I hear is “Express Yourself”. Gaga is a great singer, but her vocals were shit in this song.

  7. Brent says:

I think the remixes will be fun but is there a count as to how many times “Born This Way” is sang in this song? seems like a lot (too many!)

  8. tim w. says:

Well…… definitely really, really gay. A little too much cheese for me and feels a bit like pandering, but I will give her credit for putting her money where her mouth is and not releasing another song about getting drunk at a club.

  9. marsian says:

Why is “I was born this way” somehow seen as more legitimate than “it was a choice”? Well-behaved Gays have put way too much emphasis on the “I was born this way” talking point for way too long. If it was a choice, whose to say it was a bad one? Not ready to adopt this as my anthem yet, but maybe when I wake up or there’s more remixes I will feel differently.

    • Angela says:

Yeah, a queer academic of my acquaintance says “born this way” sounds like medicalizing, which just feeds into the hysteria about “curing” homosexuals. Additionally, the naturalistic fallacy needs to die already. One could try to put down people who identify as fundamentalist Christian as unnatural because they weren’t born devout, and you certainly don’t see animals praying, but people would actually recognize that as a ludicrous argument!

Science supports homosexuality as natural, therefore morally neutral. The basis of most moral systems is “if it doesn’t hurt anyone, it’s fine”, and when freed from the pain of social stigma and its attendant indignities, homosexuality doesn’t hurt anyone. And yet religious choice has free rein, while sexuality, choice or not, doesn’t.

Oh yeah, the song. Totally something my friends and I would’ve danced to at that one gay club in New Paltz circa 1998-2002. I’m not hooked though; let’s see what else she has.

  10. Curtis says:

I kind of love it. It is really the first of her songs that I can say that after the first listen. Her past releases have honestly left me quite cold and any good will I had for them was more about her public persona, the wild visual aspects of her celebrity, and her public positions in favor of LGBT rights.

Who gives a shit if it is referential to any other music? I mean who is actually truly original these days anyway?

  11. RcktMan says:

This Soundcloud site must be overloaded because it’s not playing for me… 😛 I want to hear it! Really I do! 🙂

  12. Here’s the official song on their YouTube channel:

  13. Joeywood says:

Sounds like the intro to an 80’s movie starring Kim Cattrall, Helen Slater and Andrew McCarthy.

  14. well this post took no time to go viral.

  15. so the melody sounds like Express Yourself and the background sounds like the theme from Queer Eye. It’s the combined two. I hear both and in the end, meh. Long live MADONNA!

  16. as for the message: love it and continue to love her constant and unwavering support for LGBT equality!

  17. Yuyiboy says:

It sounds a lot like TLC’s Waterfalls!!! Does anybody else notice that?? Very interesting…. 😎

  18. Bill says:

    This song is fabulous!
