(before I got laid off a year ago) I worked in lower Manhattan for 5 years.

Not only is New York Dolls near, “the Hallowed Ground Zero,” but they have ads on taxis and hire people to stand on street corners and hand out mini-fliers in the financial district.

During one of the numerous news features about this (on NPR, no less), I heard someone complain that, “they’re building a Mosque only yards from Ground Zero.”

Now let’s ignore the right-wing propaganda and lies, shall we? The planned Muslim community center – renamed “51 Park” so as not to offend anyone still upset by the Moorish conquest of Spain 700 years ago – will be at 45 Park Place. The building currently there, an old Burlington Coat Factory store, was damaged by falling debris from the Twin Towers.

Fire up Google Maps and draw a line from 45 Park Place to a point between the old Twin Towers – the “Hallowed Ground” so fetishized by the Republicans. You’ll find that it’s about 1/4 of a mile away. That’s 409 yards.

“Only yards from Ground Zero”?!?!? Yes … 400+ yards.

But that’s not what really irks me. What pisses me off the most is that the very people spreading the “Ground Zero Mosque” LIE and fetishizing this location in NYC are the _Very_ _Same_ _People_ who call Manhattan “Sodom & Gommorah” the rest of the time.
