From what I understand, either the pilot or one one of his first MTV shows was filmed at UIC with lots of trans folks who he spent a lot of time talking with. So we know he’s had meaningful conversations with these people so why isn’t dispelling some of this activity? Publicity would be my guess.
It was a pretty Pro-Dan Savage piece. I can’t say I’m a huge fan of the guy; I sort of resented him advocating that people with HIV should be financially responsible if they infect someone else (or something to that effect); something tells me that wasn’t what ACT-UP was fighting for.
