We all have crazy ideas when it comes to love that are simply not true. Those insane schemes you see in a romantic comedies are more likely to land you in jail than in the heart of someone you love.

The honey bear of love Zach Lamm joins us to take a look at the most common romantic lies people believe, who to blame and what you can do about it to be closer to the ones you care about.

You guys mentioned crowdsourcing for science funding on this podcast. While it is a new concept, there was a huge push last Fall to start a new place for scientists to ask for public funding and see if it would be beneficial. The SciFund Challenge, which uses the the crowdsourcing site RocketHub, is now asking for submissions for its third round of scientific projects. The second round provided over a hundred thousand in funding for 75 different projects. This is exciting because more projects are being worked on and everyday individuals are contributing to science and we are not waiting for grants or other conventional funding and red tape.

Once I got, not a teddy bear, but a teddy frog from a one night stand as I was leaving his place. It even had a name, which I dont remember. It was a bit weird, specially because the following day the guy called me inviting me for a trip (he would pay my tickets and stuff) asking me to be his boyfriend, things like that… I still have the frog thou.

Shout-out received! But surely I’m not your only straight male listener? There’s got to be some Red Bar Radio spillover.

By the way, that was fascinating to find out TLC was originally a NASA project! I remember first coming across The Learning Channel in the early 90s, when I loved it as a less sensationalistic, more intellectual alternative to the Discovery Channel (no shark weeks, for instance). Then somewhere along the way it turned into the network of Here Comes Honey Boo Boo. If it was a person, its next step would be doing Priceline ads.

    • There’s actually quite a few straight identifying male listeners! (Shout-out to Mike)

I wonder what the muppet Honey Boo Boo will be like in the future if Public Television loses it’s government support?
