The Gerber Hart Library has unveiled a new exhibit, “The City That Werqs,” which takes a look at the history of drag in Chicago, from cross-dressing gals at belle epoque balls to modern day queens of color searching for a safe place to perform.

Joining us to take a look at all the rich drag her and his-story is co-curator for the exhibit- C’est Kevvie, who won people’s hearts with her can-do spirit on the debut season of Camp Wannakiki.

FOF #2595 – Lady J Martinez’s Wild Drag Her-Story

One of the most interesting artists we met at the Austin International Drag Festival is Lady J Martinez, a drag queen who studies why folks have been dressing up in drag for centuries.

Today drag queen historian Dr Lady J Martinez joins us to take a look at the controversial crowning on RuPaul’s Drag Race All stars 3 and she gives us a peek at the forced feminization and trans-ploitation films She-Man and Queens at Heart.
