What a reflection against our society that sends messages that creates fear in the minds of individuals like this killer who would use rationale that he would rather kill someone then be thought of as gay. This kind of thinking is bred out of a society that endorses it from the rhetoric brought out by its government and religious institutions. In a sense all share in this crime.
This is why fighting homophobia really means fighting violence in your community. When I hear religious and political leaders (Sarah Palin, GWB, the Pope, etc) spewing their hate speech, these are the consequences. They in essence are endorsing raw violence.
