FOX television announces a remake of the Rocky Horror Picture Show featuring trans actress Laverne Cox in the lead role of Dr. Frank N. Furter. Many are excited to see Ms. Cox play the iconic role but some are worried it’ll get watered down as respectability politics will undoubtedly come into play.

Today Peaches Christ joins us to talk about Rocky Horror’s remake, her upcoming production of The Addams Apple Family Values where she plays little Wednesday Addams.

  1. I absolutely LOVED the way you guys and peaches brought up the issue she had with the braids/fat comments.
Its so refreshing to see people discuss issues in a civilized respectful manner! I wish more people would take a leaf from this book! Werk!

I just pledged to support Cooking with Drag Queens. I like the new format of the web series with interviews and behind the scenes stuff. Love to you both.

And that kind of looks like Pandora Boxx in the still from the Debbie Execution Scene from YouTube.

Loved today’s show Peaches Christ was just bursting with succulent gossip as always and I loved the fact the you guys are honest about how it’s next to impossible to make a living from YouTube content alone. I just wanted to ask your opinion on YouTube Red Commercial free?

Will the allow you to make more money in the long run then advertising alone?

Do you feel the YouTube User Agreement is designed so only google make money in the end? Will Facebook Video overtake YouTube with its more generous ad revenue sharing agreement?

    • We’re not sure– right now the costs of producing the full Cooking with Drag Queen episodes is more than the ad revenue is from it. Without taking into consideration hard drive space, computer maintenance, our own needs to exist and pay our bills, our contributions as writers, hosts, photographers, editors, and so on, the videos still are very expensive to produce.

Right now we’re 25% of the way there, with 14 days left to go. I’m optimistic we’ll make it though!

Please share the Kickstarter with your friends every day on social media: http://cookingwithdragqueens.com

  4. Drama! Glad you worked things out!

On another note, where can I see Showgirls?

I hope things go well for Laverne Cox on Rocky Horror Picture Show!

Watching All About Evil right now; enjoying. 🙂 Can’t ever say no to Natasha Lyonne. 😛 Thank you for talking about the gay bar/integration with straight people convo. Was interesting. I’m also thinking that the /mobile/ application versus the standard gay websites we used to use have also contributed. The world is your gay bar now, you don’t have to guess who the gay ones are and then sift through your results to find who you’re actually attracted to now. I think that the recent boom with smartphones and apps have been a major contributor, maybe even more so than the feeling of acceptance from the straight world following the gay marriage ruling in the US. I also think that we still need our spaces. It’s nice to feel like you’re part of 100% and not just 4-5% right? 🙂 Thanks for the great show!
