When exactly did gays drink from separate water fountains? What a stupid ass comment. And how sleazy is it that an org uses this occassion to bash lgbt leadership.
I think they meant that as a metaphor for Civil Unions. But a win is a win. Celebrate!
It’s what they call a “metaphor,” it’s not a literal meaning- it’s in reference to the inequality when African-Americans couldn’t use “whites only” drinking fountains during segregation.
I don’t think they are bashing LGBT leadership either, just recognizing that this, not matter how wonderful it is, is not full equality. It’s is incremental change, and I’m ok with that, but yes, we should push for more.
Finally some good news, we have come a long way and it did get better. Does mean wedding bells for Mark and Fernós sometime in the new future. That would be a feast of fun must see.
We’ll get married when we can afford it!

You have to sell it Fausto then you can marry in no time. Or how about a McWedding? 😉
What is this, Showgirls? (Sooner or later you’re gonna have to sell it.)
Mmmmm… This parsley is delicious! How’s your steak, straight people?
Gimme back that parsley you ingrate! Tonight you shall eat their bones.
Teehee…

Is it a win or a distraction from the more substantial goal of Equality? I sense there are a lot of people out there that see these little wins and think “Mission Accomplished!”
Does this struggle have to be incremental? Perhaps these small wins (and resulting disappointments) will sort of put us all on the same infuriating page and position the gay rights movement for a big push once we are more unified in our frustration?
Thoughts?
