A little correction, Germany is not a Protestant Country
Roman Catholic Church in Germany: 24,740,380 or 30.8% of the German population;
Evangelical Church in Germany: 24,328,100 or 30.3% of the German population;
Other, atheist or not specified: 31,151,210 or 38.8% of the German population.

Sorry about that. I meant to say they those that lived south of the former Roman occupied territories were predominately Catholic.
