Today we chat with the legendary Charles Busch about his fabulous life as a Broadway drag queen, and his thoughts on drag finally going mainstream with RuPaul’s Drag Race.

  1. Here’s the photo Doris Roberts bug me to take of her with Angela Landsbury at Terrence McNally’s 70th birthday party.

  2. The film version of “Die Mommie Die!” was some of my first exposure to drag. I was about 12 or 13 when I first saw the movie (I’m 19 now) and I thought it was great. Thanks for this wonderful interview guys! Now I’m off to explore more of Charles Busch’s work.

This podcast meant the world to me. For the past three months I stage managed a local production of The Divine Sister by Charles Busch. The play is brilliant, as is most of Charles Busch’s work. Hearing Charles Busch talk about his craft was both enlightening and awe-inspiring. He is so down to earth. Very honest. I love how easy going he was. There questions that were asked were great questions. What he has contributed to the arts community is invaluable and he is still going strong.

I guess I should just get used to the fact that Drag Race and Sharon Needles are going to get shoe-horned into every podcast no matter the topic, haha. What I loved most was how Fausto was preparing to throw some shade – yet again – at Miss Jinxx Monsoon BUT Charles Busch wasn’t having none of that. I loved how he said that Jinxx Monsoon could parlay her Drag Race fame into an acting career. Nice try Uncle Fausto hahaha. Maybe next time. 🙂

Overall this interview was amazing. It was so candid and the chemistry between Charles and Fausto and Marc was perfect. Not an awkward moment at all.

Now I wanna watch Psycho Beach Party! Love you guys. You keep me so entertained. Thanks for all your hard work.
