How Important is Supporting Gay Owned Businesses?

I am a gay man living in Los Angeles and I am concerned about the lack of gay owned business.  It seems to me that most of the guys I know work for somebody else. With straight people they can network through the family and through most religious organisations. The only networking I seem to get done is with my cock. What resources doe we have to connect and support each other?
