Today we reflect on the life and music of Donna Summer, the Queen of Disco, whose work was the soundtrack to the lives of many gay men.

What do the lyrics mean in “MacArthur Park,” considered one of one of the strangest songs ever in pop music? Why did Donna seem to have a fascination with sex workers?

Great show but no need to worry about what Donna Summer meant in MacArthur Park. The song was a cover of a hit for Richard Harris in 1968. Believe it or not the Harris version even won a grammy. Here’s a link to his version.

Maybe you can make a deal with Rupaul, she can listen for free if she mentions your show on RuPaul’s drag race.

  3. the song writer was on Fresh Air a year or two ago. i wish i remember what he said…i vaguely remember him talking about mushrooms or mescaline. 😕
