Today political junkie and gospel singer Richard Streetman joins us to talk about the latest election in North Carolina that involves openly gay American Idol contestant Clay Aiken and anti-marriage equality drag queen Mona Sinclair, under his legal name Steve Wiles.

For years Richard Streetman worked for some of Chicago top politicians including President Obama long before he hit the national stage. As a South Carolinian, Richard has a lot of unque and hilarious insights into their quirky politics.

Richard is hot. All that hotness in one room. One very crowded room. I believe my nethers just twitched with delight. Can’t wait to listen!

Okay so I listened to this podcast. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Richard Streetman is a ball of energy. He is very articulate and he oozes charisma. I would like to see him on the show again. I think politics are very important, especially in the LGBT community. I hate to say it, but many folks my age and younger simply don’t care about the issues we are facing in 2014.

Richard, from one southern gay, Baptist-reared boy to another, you are always welcome here in Chattanooga if you ever decide to venture below the Mason-Dixon. I would gladly make us some fried chicken, some cornbread and sweet tea we can sip from Mason jars.

One of the things that stuck out in this interview was something Richard said. In regards to the Star Wars/Jar-Jar Binks conversation, I like how Richard said that as a white man, he may not understand why a minority group is offended by a particular issue but at the same time he can acknowledge that they are offended. That’s a very powerful statement especially when placed in the context of the current Trans-related debates. As a black gay man, I may not understand what the trans community is feeling but I can acknowledge that behavior inside and outside of the community is hurtful to them.

Another great podcast Uncles Fausto and Marc. You guys truly make my day. Thank you also Richard for sharing your experiences.

Thanks for this awesome podcast! I will have to go back and listen to all of them. I loved that it was fun, informative and campy all together. Richard is a National Treasure. There was more info in here than in all the Presidential debates of the last decade. Keep doin’ what chall doin’.

Thought my podcast settings were at 2x

  5. Mac says:

I think you spelled Shante wrong.

  6. This was a very funny episode. And to me, Milk+Pepsi = gag. I work as a bartender and it kind of reminds me of poor man’s sangria for some reason, which is cabernet and pepsi/coke, about half and half.

You need to get a video of Richard singing “At Last” on the site; he has such a wonderful voice.

  7. Bryce says:

I agree with Jake Ramsey. I would love to hear Richard sing “At Last”. It is one of my favorite songs. I want to dance to that song at my wedding some day.
