Something truly awful is happening to Pride Parades across the country. After years of being a rallying point for LGBT folks, the parades now attract an overwhelming number of people who are interested in having a good time and could care less about equality or community building.
Today, Peaches Christ joins us to talk about what we can do to make Pride Parades meaningful again.

I always look forward to a Peaches Christ show! I don’t know why but Batman and Robin popped onto my head for characters for Marc and Fausto. There is nothing that really screams those characters but that is still in my head.
Loved this episode ! I’m in the middle of reading Role Models by John Waters and he mentions Divine’s makeup was inspired by the clown in the TV show Howdy Doody. 🙂
as always, great show! the world loves peaches chris! I have a burning man work weekend so i have to miss the Wizard of Odd. 🙁
re: sponsors for pride. I hope the events in Austin and Dallas succeed, but i predict they will be a victim of their own success. Porta potties, police, clean up all cost money. those events will grow large enough where the city will need a permit and insist that appropriate services be provided (sanitation and security being the most important).
I’m 100% supportive of sponsorship (let Miller pay for porta potties), but i understand Fausto’s point. a wrapped bus with planet of the apes (or whatever movie is out) isn’t what pride is about.
burning man has absolutely no sponsors and except for coffee and ice, there is no commerce. we all love this, but it comes at a steep price ($600 ticket). I’m also supportive of this. The first time i went the porta potties were serviced once a day, if that. The last time i went admission was more expensive but the poopers were serviced multiple times a day. all this shit (!) costs money.
i also agree with Peaches….pink saturday, like halloween, is not what it used to be. would we miss it? i’m not sure i would.
