while these folks over at Pixar may be in support of the LBT community, I think its going to be a long time before we ever see a openly gay character in any of their movies, cos at the end of the day, these movies are a product that makes Disney and Pixar money, I don’t think they would make such a big risk by putting a openly gay character in one of their movies that could lose them thousands of dollars from angry parents. There’s also the merchandise that goes into these movies, where they would lose even more money from just because of a gay character in a movie.

the only animated movies I can think of that have had openly gay characters, although they were a bit of a stereotype were from Ralph Bakshi’s films Coonskin and Heavy Traffic..although those are adult movies..not for kiddies.

but yea, you ain’t never gonna see a movie from Disney, Pixar, Dreamworks, Blue Sky, Sony and the rest with a openly gay chara in it, maybe in another 10 years or so..or maybe never.

I don’t need to see gay characters out of pixar, but I’d like for them to keep them COMPLETELY asexual. No gender indocterination with heterosexual romantic storylines. I don’t have to see gay everywhere, but I DO NOT WANT to see str8s everywhere.

I’ve seen people interpret the robots in WALL-E as having a non-hetero relationship. “Wally” and “Eve” are sort of gendered-sounding, but they’re robots, so they have no sex.

Speaking of asexual, the “ace” community probably has valuable things to say about their own lack of representation onscreen. Anything that doesn’t just revolve around “one male, one female, having procreative sex, for-EVER” would be a welcome departure.
