Chicago Representative Deb Mell announced the engagement to her long-time girlfriend on the floor of the Illinois state house in Springfield with this emotional, heartfelt speech. We share her disappointment that she has to cross the Mississippi into Iowa to marry rather than marry her partner here where she grew up. Hopefully her plea will sound a chord with the other lawmakers.
