One of my favorite shows of all time. I keep this one and a handful of others on my iPod, and listen to them all the time when randomly walking to the grocery store or whatevs. Really love Elizabeth, and the content of the show is really enlightening. XOX

  4. This is one of my favorite FOF’s ever!! Such a wonderful and important discussion about prevention and the limitations of current research.

One correction, however. People in HIV vaccine studies do NOT test positive for HIV. I took the HIV vaccine back in 2006. What this means is that I test positive for ANTIBODIES to HIV on some standardized tests, but I do not show up positive for HIV itself. Most tests in clinics and offices only look for antibodies. This is why the testing sites facilitating the trials recommend only getting tested through the participating sites. They will pay for an actual HIV test, which is considerably more expensive, but then avoids the potential confusion that can result in one testing positive for antibodies for a disease they do not actually carry.

I hope people will consider learning more about the vaccine trials in order to get more clarification. But suffice to say, one cannot become HIV positive from being in a trial, and one does not show up positive for the HIV virus itself. I recommend people take a look at http://www.hopetakesaction.org if they’d like to learn more this unique opportunity.

Thanks again guys for a wonderful show and all the hard work you do!
