Toni Morrison once said “If there is a book that you want to read, but it hasn’t been written yet, you must be the one to write it.” As a writer and editor, Toni Morrison uplifted black female voices in a culture that often dismissed the experiences of people of color.

Today comedian Matt Brown joins us to take a look at how Toni Morrison, who died last week at the age of 88, supported and inspired a whole generation of writers and artists.

      I love when you have Matt on the show. This show was HI-larious! You guys would be so much fun to hang out with.

      True that about all of the great literature that has come forward because of Toni Morrison. A tremendous loss, but what a legacy.

      I have a thought about future material…Given the political climate. Chester Cheetah has already gone after Hispanics, Women, Blacks, etc. I get the feeling that LGBTQ is next. Hate is growing like a CA wildfire. I’m even considering buying a gun for protection. I never thought I would see that day.

      A few weeks ago a white woman (suburban soccer mom) walked right up to me and told me to go back to Jerusalem. She went on to say that Jews are going to hell because they aren’t Christian. I did not respond and simply walked away. I wasn’t going to acknowledge her “voice.”

      Ironically, I am a Greek Orthodox Christian and I was born in Minneapolis, MN.

      Sorry for the long message, but wanted to share some of my thoughts. I love you two. Your show is more valuable than I think you realize.
