We have been banned in China! According to the website Great Firewall of China we’ve found out that the Feast of Fools site is blocked in China(thanks Brad), but somehow Rosie O’Donnell’s blog is not! […]

Bill Haddad, the man of my dreams and the sexiest voice I’ve ever heard on a podcast!
It was a reall pleasure to hear about Mr Haddad. He is such a distinguished and open minded man who represents the true virtue of age: open mindedness through experience.
I don’t have a problem accesing FOF in China, but if you have any pictures stored in Flickr, then it’s a big problem. I had been having problem loaind those pix for a couple of days already. *Sigh*
was it vmarr’s voice over the phone?
I am embarrassed to say I need Mr. Haddad to teach me proper English. I heard Marc say, “the jig is up” and I always thought it was “the gig is up” That is what I have been saying for the last 39 years. Wha wha wha.
That had to be Vmarr. It just had to be. 🙂
It was great to have Bill Haddad back on the show. I’ve met him numerous times over the years (I think he even sang with the Chicago Gay Men’s Chorus for a short while) and he was always a sweet guy. What he says about the gay community is true, and it’s something I’ve liked about it as well: we are all races, shapes, sizes, ages, backgrounds and eccentricities. That’s what makes us so interesting. I do hope he is back again soon!!!!
I could listen to Bill all day. Such impecable diction! He sounds as though he should be on NPR or BBC Radio.
I love to hear the history of the gay community and what it was like pre-Stonewall. We have lost so many of our, for lack of better term, “elders,” and those who do know the differences in our culture are true gems. Thank you and please have Bill back again!
Bill Haddad! How great to hear him on the show. I’ve seen him around town, but never talked to him. In the Venn diagram of my life, Bill Haddad is the only person who occupies the overlap between Feast of Fools and Princeton. Unfortunately, when I was at Princeton in the late 90’s it was still a pretty repressive and conservative scene. It’s still entrenched in the good ol’ boy culture… Older alumni (grumpy white men) write letters to the alumni magazine with diatribes against the new LGBT student center, for instance. It’s insane.
So it’s so refreshing to hear from someone who grew up in that culture (which was much worse I know in the 50’s), who had the courage to come out, and who obviously lives life to the fullest and enjoys the company of so many different groups of people. I’ll look forward to the next Bill Haddad show!
Christopher, here’s a link to gay and lesbian activists in Chicago recounting their revolutionary exploits, pre- and post-Stonewall. I really enjoyed it.

(I mentioned it in the notes to yesterday’s show, but today it’s actually relevant!)
Mr. Haddad sounds like such a cool guy.
On the subject of where to look to find a quality person for a partner, I agree that no one place holds any more or less promise than any other.
I met my partner in a bar, and I had nearly given up on finding anyone of quality in a bar.
Other couples have met in bath houses, in houses of worship, in adult bookstores, or in 12-step meetings.
I also agree that if going to the same venue to find a partner is not working, then it would be wise to give that venue a rest and do something else for a while. If nothing else, the change might spark some transformation that will open the way for Mr/Ms Right to come along.
Yum! Bill Haddad is now on my list of people that I would be happy to hear speak anything that might come out of their mouths. It’s not just his diction — there’s something about the quality of his voice and the compassion that shines through it.
I loved the way Bill Haddad said “Caribou.”
Bill’s voice sounds similar to Tom Baker’s narration on Little Britain I think… but with a Standard American accent=-) If he’s not already doing voice over work, he needs an agent!
Good old bill.Been asking for such a long time to know when they would have him on the show.
His voice seriously is the greatest voice I have ever heard. I could listen for hours. Do I have to mention it again……older man + suit = much love from me!
But seriously it was great to hear some of his storys from years gone by and what it was like being gay.
when i grow up i want to be bill haddad!
i always wondered what happened to gay men when they turned 40. did they disappear? did they turn back into sugar and spice and everything nice? now i know. 🙂
lol,
jason honey, once gay men turn 40 THATS when things get good.
I have dated nothing but older men from 45 – 65 and trust me, things getting going at that age!
Ah, this is wonderful. I’m thrilled! All my websites are banned in China. My personal one I can sort of understand, being bright pink all over… But my farm? How is that subversive? It’s a strange world… Doesn’t stop me getting loads of spam from china, though.
