Pole dance is gaining credibility outside of nightlife, often referred to as “pole sport” or “pole fitness”. I think it’s hard to deny how sexy it remains, but it cannot be denied that it takes strength and skill, especially to perform at a competitive level.
My absolutely fabulous friend Andre Corey placed third in the ‘Expression’ division in the second annual New Zealand Pole Championships last weekend, and is now in line for the semi-finals at the International Pole Championships. Here is a video entry documenting Andre’s prowess on the pole, as he slinks, spins, dives and generally defies gravity and belief, to the strains of one of my personal favorite songs.
If you like this video, like Andre’s page on Facebook.
