Today we’re joined by Zach Stafford, who writes in the Guardian that although society has progressed in embracing us gender and sexually nonconforming folks, many of us still hold onto the self-hate and shame from before, with sometimes fatal consequences.
If you’re a fan of Zach’s work, catch him on the Daily Show tonight where he’ll be talking about dating and race relations.

I’ve been thinking a lot about this lately. I see it with my family. They don’t support LGBTQI equality, but they would never commit a hate crime and love me and my husband. They are racist, but, again, would not commit violence towards a racial minority. They are hyper-religious but would never shoot up a Planned Parenthood. So, the question I’m trying to wrap my head around isn’t about homophobia or racism but violence. What causes someone to commit acts of violence?
Bernie’s campaign was finished last Tuesday night. He didn’t reach the critical mass he needed to carry the campaign through to victory. There’s no victory for Sanders’ supporters (myself among them), now. It’s sad, but I think it is time for him to suspend his campaign.
