Pies, pies, pies! Saturday is National Pie Day. Drag queen pie expert Bertha Mason joins us to talk all things pie: pies in pop culture, the origins of the beloved dessert and fun ways celebrate National Pie Day.
Plus hot news: U.S. Supreme court rolls back 20 years of campaign finance reform, Cindy McCain gets her mouth taped shut for NOH8 and Nepal woos same sex couples to pick the Himalayan mountain country as a gay Shang-ri-la wedding destination. Sherpa anyone?

Wow, so Michael Bowen is pretty cute.
Btw, no one really corrected the snafu with the definition of pi?
That’s it! All this talk of pie got me in the mood for pie! I’m going to the store post haste!
Down here in New Orleans, it’s Carnival season, so I think I’m gonna pick up a king cake. ๐
I’m glad to see that Bertha is back on FOF. I have really enjoyed her podcasts and this great episode!
Just to update/correct the info…..
Cindy McCain is part of Hensley and Company, the 3rd largest Budweiser distributor/wholesaler in the US, located in Phoenix. They are actually pretty pro-gay and support many, many events in our local GLBT community. They are generally the major sponsor and beer provider for Phoenix Pride and Rainbows Festival every year.

not to be a bitch but fausto said that pi was the ratio of a circle’s radius to it’s diameter. pi is the ratio of the diameter (distance across) to the circumference (distance around). the radius is the distance from the center of the circle to the outside, so the radius is half of the diameter. ๐
Although Bertha is Methodist, she definitely reminds me of the Lutheran church ladies I grew up with in Minnesota ๐
I was going to jump on that one too. :p
I want some of Bertha’s pie!
“You can never fit a radius into the diameter”, I couldn’t help but ROFL at that. OOooh Fausto. ๐

Michael! You’re the first person outside of my family that I’ve heard talk about making a butterscotch pie! I posed the recipe on Group Recipes that my grandmother taught me, which she learned from her mother.
Also, the book is called “To Serve Man.” And, I think Fausto confused the plot of the original Twilight Zone episode with the Simpsons parody.
