Thanks for having Jackie on! I first saw her in the hysterical Vampire Lesbians with Alexandra many years ago, and I’m still waiting for her to get another part that lives up to that. I’m sorry to hear she is so unhappy in Addams Family. I saw it last week, and I really hope they beef up her part. Her brief scenes are the highlights of the show.
Wow! Jackie is so bitter I have a bad aftertaste in my mouth that I think is going to ruin Thanksgiving dinner. Yowch! Hmmm here’s a thought, maybe they keep taking things away from her because she’s such a pleasant person. Kudos to you guys for trying your best to keep it all going.
She’s doesn’t sound like a nice person. And that annoying voice…ughh!
uhm.. bitter much?
The whole ‘Letters to Santa” thing is that because of a registered sex offender that was volunteering at a Maryland Post Office they added new “regulations” to the Santa Letter Program that requires participating offices to encrypt the child’s last name and address before it gets to the volunteers. The Post Office in North Pole, AK can’t handle that requirement, so they’ve removed themselves from the program.
Is Jackie always like that or is that her schtick?
Ok, gotta say this: I like bitter comedy as much as anybody, but the trick is that the comedy level must match the bitterness level – otherwise it’s just sad and somewhat distasteful. I am not sure if all Jackie’s jokes on the show really accomplished that, to be honest.
I guess Jackie is not a morning person like me.
And what is wrong about Brazil? It is a country of the future! Brazil is currently growing faster than Russia and unlike India, does not suffer from ethnic conflicts or border disputes and is overpopulated like China or India. The country of 192 million has a stable domestic market, with different exports like cars and aircraft, soybeans and iron ore, oil and cellulose, sugar, coffee. Most important is not a bloody dictatorship like China but has a stable Western-style democracy.
Guys, cut her some slack. Maybe someone died in her family. Sounds like she was very unhappy, hope she’s doing ok. Hang in there!
I was simultaneously entertained and frightened.
I agree that bitter comedy can be funny, and I was willing to cut her slack at first; but she was so blatantly irritable that it made the entire interview uncomfortable. In addition, she had a VERY high opinion of herself, and never missed a moment to remind us of just how highly she thought of herself. The third strike came when she was rude to Fausto and Marc, and disparaged the show she was a guest of. I had never heard of her before this interview, and I can honestly say I don’t really want to know much more about her after it. I learned enough as it happened.
Fausto and Marc you guys earned your paycheck with this ‘Piece o’ Work’. Fausto bent over backwards to promote her career/show and all she had was ‘ball busting, East Coast arrogance’. Jeff Ross does Jewish Insult comedy FAR better than her. She’s lucky someone put her in a Bway show.
I”m assuming her husband is blind?
love you guys!! Drake
“Fuck you very much” – LMAO
I liked Jackie.
Bitter, party of one, you’re table’s now ready.. what a hateful mean old woman, and she didn’t sound like she likes her fans or audience very much or even wants them at her show really – be careful what you wish for! “Who cares about a 17 year old kid in Puerto Rico?” Well who cares about a washed-up 2nd City has-been!
OMG, Can I just vent here a sec? My friend, Todd, dragged me to her show. All I can say is what an absolute ugly person this Hoffman is. She is mean, without soul, grace or wit. He remembered her from
Vampires and swore I would have fun. I felt like I was being tortured, like I would rather have my hair pulled out one by one. She is mean spirited, LOUD, and self centered. So who cares about her whining?
Lenny Bruce had some social commentary, and Lenny Bruce she ain’t. She is just vular and crude for the sake of being vulgar and crude. I hope her husband is deaf as well as blind. I was tortured for an hour out of my life, whoever married her must be hard up, and I only hope for him this is an act. I wouldn’t want anyone killing themselves. If I were a straight guy, she would make me turn gay. EEEEEEEEw.
Having now heard the Thanksgiving podcast (I stock up on podcasts and then listen to them one after the other) I didn’t think Jackie Hoffman was over the top. I thought her bitter style was her act or just her being her. I didn’t feel she belittled me as a listener or the FOF show. Maybe I missed it? I thought it funny her bitching about Adams Family and your part being whittled down to nothing and thought she was using the podcast to get the attention of the producers of the show… or maybe she was whittled down based upon her personality. In either case I enjoyed the hell out of that show and listened to it all the way through.
