Spirits were high at Pride celebrations across the country this past weekend due to the landmark passing of the Marriage Equality Act in New York, granting same-sex couples full marriage benefits. But even here in Chicago, where vandals slashed the tires on 51 floats scheduled to be in the Pride Parade, the mood was still incredible.

All across the country, Pride is in full swing with events celebrating LGBT folks and the 1969 Stonewall riots that galvanized the modern gay rights movement.

Although Pride Parades have their roots in political action, today they have become a wildly colorful hootenanny, a delicious rainbow colored version of Mardi-Gras. Some think it’s tragic, we think it’s fabulous!

Today we’re talking to our friend Michael Oliphant a comedy writer who took his life on a different course five years ago when he started to study acupuncture. He’s given up the late nights telling jokes in smoky bars for an office where he pokes willing patients to help them heal.

Due to the public outcry over the orgnazations’ endorsement merger, which many consider a sell-out to corporate interests, will ultimately work against the interest of a free and open Internet. And now, El Presidente Jarrett Barrios has offered his resignation.

Blogger Tom MacMaster came forward as the man behind the blog Gay Girl in Damascus after he faked the kidnapping of his online persona, Amina Arraf, a young muslim girl living in Syria. And the supposedly deaf lesbian editor of the blog Lez Get Real actually turned out to be Bill Graber, a straight man living in Ohio. Why do straight men want to be lesbians online?
